Ferdinando and Mario Zanusso are father and son and began making wine together in the early 90’s, purchasing a dozen hectares of forgotten, ancient vines in some of the Colli Orientali and neighbouring Collio’s best crus.
The mission was simple, to produce terroir-driven wines that reflected this unique and storied part of Italy. The climate, grapes and hills.
Organic viticulture was adopted from the outset to ensure healthy, pure fruit, while a focus on old vines and native varietals yields wines of unusual concentration and finesse.
The vineyard work undertaken by Ferdinando and his son Mario is much the same today and likewise work in the cantina focuses on translating place to glass.
They make tense, linear, mineral wines that crackle with energy and have a wonderful ability to age.
