On Sunday 6th of October we will welcome Sicilian winemaker Nino Barraco to London with a long lunch at Leo’s.
From windswept vines along Marsala’s coastline, we can think of few wines that carry such a strong sense of place as Nino’s. Salty and sunkissed, perfumed with citrus and spice, they capture all the beauty of Sicily, and on the day Leo’s chef Giuseppe Belvedere will be cooking a beautiful seafood lunch inspired by the island.
Expect the likes of zucchine a scapece and a tortiera of potato and sardines for antipasti, before a main event of couscous alla trapanese, laden with fish and shellfish and served just as they do in Trapani, on large platters with steaming bowls of broth alongside. To finish, a classic Sicilian cassata, best enjoyed alongside a glass of Nino’s Milocca – a remarkable passito of Nero d’Avola that is well into its second decade.
The menu is priced at £50 for three courses, exclusive of wine and service.
Nino has dug deep into his cellar for the occasion and we will be offering a large selection of his wines by the glass and bottle, including older vintages of Cataratto and Grillo and several of his fascinating oxidative wines.
Tables are available across two sittings at either 12:30 pm or 3pm and can be booked via the restaurant’s OpenTable
We expect this one to sell fast, so please grab some friends and join us for what promises to be a wonderful lunch.
