New from Ajola

From beautiful vineyards spread out across the rolling hills outside Orvieto, Jacopo Battista makes our favourite Umbrian wines.

Originally from Rome, Jacopo worked for many years at Le Coste, before starting Ajola in 2012. After over a decade here, the wines have really found their groove and each release nowadays seems to be a little more considered and harmonious than the last. The result of respectful farming and a curious mind, much like the man himself, Jacopo’s wines possess an easygoing charm.

The majority of these wines come from the cool, wet 2023 vintage, a challenging year in the vineyards that saw Jacopo lose all of his grapes due to disease, and as a result, he headed across the border to Pitigliano in Tuscany to harvest grapes with a friend. Home to a large number of grape varieties, the old vineyards here are planted over tufo and have been farmed organically for decades. The wines are pure, fragrant and uplifting – just the thing for summertime.

Jacopo’s wines are now available on Tutto a Casa
