After a good rest in our cellars, it gives us great pleasure to share the third vintage from Alsatian vigneronne, Anaïs Fanti.
Anaïs grew up in the village of Ammerschwihr in the region’s south, where her family has grown grapes for many years. Having fallen in love with wine all over again after spending time alongside growers in Georgia, Anaïs left her day job as a nurse to become the third generation to tend the family’s vines.
Anaïs farms one and half hectares of vines spread across tiny parcels surrounding the village. She grows Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir and Auxerrois with a focus on biodynamics, seeking to obtain a diversity of life in the vineyards that is sometimes missing in Alsace, planting trees amongst the vines and letting wild grasses and flowers grow for much of the year.
Her third vintage was yet another challenging one, with particularly warm, dry growing conditions leading to issues with fermentations in the cellar. However, Anaïs has navigated the challenge the year posed beautifully and the wines, built on a backbone of pure, ripe fruit, are every bit as nourishing and uplifting as we have come to expect from this most talented of growers.
Anaïs’s wines are now available on Tutto a Casa
