We are thrilled to release handful of new wines from Catalan legend Laureano Serres of Mendall.
From a small bogega in the hot, dusty little town of El Pinell de Brai, Laureano has been influential in inspiring others in Catalunya to return to their winemaking roots through a spirit, sense of community and love of life that is both legendary and infectious.
He farms six hectares of vineyards spread over parcels around El Pinell and higher up in the Terra Alta, some of which are around five hundred metres above sea level. There is little topsoil, meaning the vines often dig right into the limestone bedrock below.
The terroir lends Laureano’s wines a freshness and complexity that is not always common in this part of the world and they are truly one of a kind – vivid expression of man, grape and place.
This is the second collection of wines we have released from the fantastic 2019 vintage and after six months resting in our cellars, they are quintessentially Laureano – generous, soulful and a little wild.
