A new vintage from Gabrio Bini’s Serragghia has arrived just in time to celebrate the arrival of some long overdue sunshine.
The Bini’s farm can be found at one of the highest points of Pantelleria, an island much closer to Africa than mainland Sicily. Pantelleria’s name is derived from the Arabic ‘Daughter of the Winds’ and the stiff breezes here keep temperatures surprisingly moderate, even in the height of summer. The old bush vines are planted amongst olive trees and caper bushes on ancient terraces and volcanic soils.
It is a unique place to grow grapes and the island’s rare energy is captured so brilliantly in these wines. Citrus, spice, salt and herbs make for heady, evocative wines with a wonderful sense of place.
For the first time ever we are thrilled to be able to offer a small amount of his Heritage, a special Zibibbo made from a hundred year old vineyard of ungrafted vines. Made in tiny quantities, there will be a limit of one bottle per person.
Gabrio’s Serragghia Zibibbo, Heritage and Fanino are now available on Tutto a Casa
