After a wonderful visit to Trish and Piero of Gazzetta in Lazio the other week, we are thrilled to share their summer releases with you.
Spring has been uncommonly wet in these parts and amongst the storm clouds the landscapes on the drive from Ciampino to Bolsena seemed almost tropical in parts. However, once the sun parted we were in for a treat, walking through vineyards which offered a riot of colour and were teeming with life.
It was a revelation to visit Piero’s vines for the first time. The tiny, secluded parcels he has been tending for the past decade are hidden away in the countryside and are home to olives, pears, cherries, figs and bees as well as grapes, harking back to the agriculture of old.
We enjoyed these new releases over a barbecue on Trish’s terrace and they proved the perfect accompaniment to a warm evening spent outdoors with friends, enjoying sunkissed vegetables alongside whatever is coming off the grill.
