After tasting together in the Loire back in February, we are happy to share four wonderful wines from Adrien de Mello’s La Petite Soeur.
For the past decade, Adrien has farmed four hectares of old vineyards planted over schist around the village of Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné. Adrien’s work in the vines is certified as both organic and biodynamic, but goes well beyond that. He ploughs by horse and is passionate about foraging wild plants such as nettle, comfrey, yarrow and buckthorn to prepare teas to be used in the vineyards. There is a level of care and attention to detail that makes for wines with a wonderful purity of fruit.
In the cellar, his work is defined by a lightness of touch and a focus on expressing the perfume of each variety whilst harnessing the unique characteristics brought by schist. Fresh, fragrant and invigorating, Adrien’s wines offer a highly original expression of the part of Anjou he calls home.
Adrien’s wines are now available on Tutto a Casa
