Few wines capture the personality of the artisan behind them better than those of Alice Bouvot’s Domaine de l’Octavin. Alice farms around five hectares of vines planted in some of the Jura’s very best lieu-dits such as En Curon, La Mailloche, Les Nouvelles and Les Corvées. Vineyard work is done by hand and is both fanatical and fantastic, with biodynamic farming used to great effect in retaining a real biodiversity in the vineyard. They are some of the most beautiful parcels we have visited. After several lean vintages, Alice began harvesting grapes grown by friends all over France and now makes many beautiful wines each year under her negociant project. As always, on our visit at her cellar in Arbois at the beginning of this year we tasted a dizzying number of cuvées and these new releases represent our favourites from that day. While each wine is thrillingly unique, the common thread is a sort of boundless energy, where each is as nourishing, vibrant and delicious as the last. A large selection of Alice’s wines is now available on Tutto a Casa |
