After a great tasting last autumn and a nice rest in our cellars, we are happy to share two new wines from talented young Jura grower, Thomas Jacquin.
Having completed his winemaking studies in Burgundy, Thomas spent half a decade working alongside one of the Jura’s most learned vignerons in Stéphane Tissot and most recently, with Alice Bouvot of Domaine de l’Octavin.
In 2017 he began tending just under a hectare of Poulsard, Savagnin and medicinal plants in the lieu-dit of ‘En Chamblin’ in Arbois and last year he acquired a little Chardonnay in Poligny. Farming is biodynamic and Thomas uses infusions from the plants grown in the vineyard to lend the vines the strength they need to survive the increasingly unpredictable Jurassic weather.
As well as his Poulsard, this time around we have the first vintage of Savagnin that he has aged in barrels and the resulting wine is fantastic – a proper elévage having lent depth and complexity. A wine very much built for the long haul, we are lucky enough to have a handful of magnums too.
Thomas’s wines are now available on Tutto a Casa
