A special cuvée which was last made in 2009, made from a painstaking selection of the very best bunches from their oldest vines of Sangiovese’s ancient clone, Greghetto Rosso. The grapes were macerated for around a month, before being pressed to old barrels for three years and a long rest in bottle before release. This is perhaps the best example of the grape we have tried from Le Coste – a wine of great structure and real complexity that offers layers of fruit, earth and minerals which reveal themselves slowly over time.
