Chardonnay from the lower slopes of Nico’s seventy year old parcel planted over marnes gris in L’Étoile, pressed directly to old casks for two years of élevage. There is more clay in this part of the slope, producing a wine that is a little more dense, round and opulent than Là-Haut. The richness is offset by gentle notes of citrus and stones, making for a wine that is as complete as it is compelling.
